**Bulbs Ship In Spring**
5 bulbs per pack
Height 12"-18"
100-120 days until bloom
Very Fragrant
Freesia prefer full sun but do fine with morning shade. Plant bulbs 2"-3" deep and 2" apart in well draining, heavily composted soil. Freesia have long roots (like sweet peas) so make sure to plant in at least 10" of tilled soil.
Spring sow in zones 3-8. Fall planting is recommended in zones 9-10.
Freesia can be started early indoors but need to be started on the cooler side (like ranunculus) around 55 degrees for the first few weeks.
Pro-tips:
-
Planting in movable containers can allow for winter storage of corms indoors. The bulbs can be spaced just 1" apart, however make sure the pot is deep, as they need room for their long roots.
-
Freesia thrives in springtime temps (around 55-60 degrees) and shut down when daytime temps get into the 70s.
-
The bloom window can be stretched through succession planting by planting bulbs every two weeks or so.
-
In cooler climates, freesia can be grown in pots indoors, as long as they get plenty of light and frequent water.
-
Freesia need cool nighttime temperatures (40 - 55 degrees). They will not bloom in zones with year-round heat as they need cool nighttime temperatures to form flowers.
